Good to know

  • Closed kans don't break it.
  • It's a yaku, so any closed tenpai hand can win by tsumo even without riichi or another yaku. On ron that same hand would have no yaku.
  • Stacks with riichi and pinfu. Pinfu tsumo is scored at 20 fu.
TipA closed hand without a yaku can still win off the wall. Keeping it closed (dama) is sometimes better than riichi when the wait is good.
